Common questions
What does Scout Pro include?
Everything in the app: all 63 national parks with live NPS alerts, every trail's details, photos and NPS notes, trail maps that work offline, hike mode, the day planner, nearby services, and your hike history. The app requires a Scout Pro subscription.
How do I restore my subscription on a new phone?
Open the app and tap Restore purchases on the subscribe screen. Make sure you're signed in to the same Apple Account you subscribed with.
How do I cancel?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple. On your iPhone open Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Scout, or in the app go to Profile → Manage subscription. Cancel at least 24 hours before your renewal date. For refunds, use reportaproblem.apple.com, since Apple handles all payments.
How do I use maps without cell service?
Before you go, open the park and tap Download park while you're on Wi-Fi. Trail maps, trail details and your location then work with no signal. Downloads are listed under the Downloads tab.
A trail looks wrong or is closed. How do I tell you?
Open the trail and tap Report trail information, or email us. Always follow posted signs, NPS closures and ranger instructions over anything in the app.
Where does the information come from?
Park details, alerts and official trail distances come from the National Park Service. Trail lines come from OpenStreetMap, and each one is checked against the distance NPS publishes before it's included.
